Hall of Fame

Selection Procedure for the RA Hall of Fame

People

  1. Any RA member can nominate a person for the Hall of Fame by submitting the listed criteria information to the RA Office.

  2. Nominees will be screened by the Hall of Fame Committee, with emphasis placed on their unselfish contribution to the Association rather than on their personal accomplishments. Another important consideration is that the selection of members to the Hall of Fame should more or less parallel the chronological order of the contributions of the nominees, with the early RA members having preference. The Hall of Fame Committee should bear in mind that membership in the Hall of Fame is a means of honouring the members whose efforts RA could not exist without, and is not intended merely to congratulate people for being successful competitors, breeders, etc.

  3. It is strongly suggested that one new member a year be selected to the Hall of Fame so as to maintain the prestige that this award should carry. An exception to this could be made where the contributions of two or more members were inseparable, for instance those of husband and wife.

  4. Deadline for nominations is June 1, and a final slate of recommended candidates will be presented to the RA board by the Hall of Fame Committee. New inductees will be selected by the board and will be announced and presented with an award at the annual Hall of Fame banquet. The Hall of Fame Committee will make every attempt to gather any pertinent memorabilia, photographs, etc. to be stored for the benefit of future generations.

Horses

  1. Any RA member can nominate a Horse for the Hall of Fame by submitting the listed criteria information to the RA Office (see offical form on this page).

  2. Nominees will be screened by the Hall of Fame Committee based on the following criteria:
    a) Selection should parallel the horse's involvement in RA competition chronologically.
    b) The horse should be selected based on the enjoyment and excitement they have provided competitors and spectators alike either through their own accomplishments or those of their offspring.

  3. Selection to the Hall of Fame should never be used to promote or publicise a particular bloodline for commercial gain, but rather to honour the contribution to the enjoyment and improvement of reining by outstanding individuals.

  4. Deadline for nominations is June 1, and a final slate of recommended candidates will be presented to the RA board by the Hall of Fame Committee. New inductees will be selected by the board and will be announced and presented with an award at the annual Hall of Fame banquet. This award will be presented to the last known owner according to the RA records. Every attempt will be made to contact these people. A duplicate trophy will be available at a nominal fee for another party who were involved as breeder, owner, or exhibitor.

The Hall of Fame Committee will make every attempt to gather any pertinent memorabilia, photographs, etc. to be stored for the benefit of future generations.
