2018 - Warren Backhouse
Warren was a young, ambitious farrier, in his spare time amateur bull rider, Warren and his family moved to their property in Kandanga in 1996 with their five children.
Warren and Carol started approximately 90 thoroughbreds per year, coming from all parts of the country in preparation for their racing careers. Warren was often commended by the race horse trainers and track work riders for how broke and soft the horses would be after going through his program.
The transition into the western disciplines followed a few years later when Warren and Carol would take on a small number of quarter horses and paints for breaking and re-education.
Every chance he would get, Warren would work with Ian Francis to learn as much as he could and further his knowledge.
In 2001 Warren campaigned his first Reining Horse, a stallion named 'Holly's Hillbilly' referred to him by Ian Francis.
The duo went on to win the QRHA Open Futurity and win the NRHA Australia National Intermediate Open Futurity and Reserve Champion in the NRHA National Open Futurity.
