2019 - Microchip
Indy was sired by Seligman Spin out of a Cuttabars Colonel Mare by the name of Colonel Midget. He was originally AQHA registered as Kalevale Colonel B San. Dev and Karen went to look at this horse in 2006 and thought they should buy Indy as a pony for Bayley because he was so quiet and such little fella.
After being purchased Indy went to reining trainer Warren Cox to begin his life under saddle. For those that know Warren he was the kind of bloke who always would tell you straight. Well after two weeks he rang Karen and said Indy wasn’t coming home he was heading to the futurity. He was registered with Reining Australia as Microchip and a reining career second to none was about to commence.
His Showing Career...
Indy was shown for 9 years by the Lowe family and ridden by Devin, Karen and Bayley who all enjoyed a large amount of success on this little champion with a heart as big as anything you could imagine. At the end of his career his buckle tally totalled a whopping 63 champion buckles, 27 Reserve Champion Ribbons from the largest reining shows in the Country including state and national levels. He also won 10 High Point and 6 Reserve High Point awards with Reining Australia and was the Australian Quarter Horse Youth Runner Up in 2012 after Bayley won the Q12 Youth Champion. His total earnings was just under $23000.
Some of Indy’s highlights were the National Derby Non Pro Championships where Karen scored her highest ever score of 74.5 , Q11 also saw Karen and Indy placing 3rd in the Open Derby standing behind her idols in the line-up Martin Larcombe and Warren Backhouse, one highlight that sticks with Bayley is winning the Michelle Halliwell Non Pro Memorial Twice with just missing out on a 3rd by half a point and with his last run on Indy scoring a 145.5.
There have been very few geldings that have achieved so much and given so much to one family… He is simply the best … We thank Indy for his contribution to the reining industry and wish him all the best in his senior years of retirement …
