2009 - Rick Tranter

 

Rick Tranter was the prime force

behind growing reining in Australia

in the early 1990’s.

 

President in 1991, Rick was also

International Reining Council

Australian representative from

1992 to 1994 and president of the

QRHA for many years.

 

Rick organised and ran the largest

reining show in Australia with 1,200

spectators - the first Celebrity Reining. 

John Farnham won the celebrity event.

 

Rick was prominent as a competitor. Although records for that period are unavailable he won Moonbi Reining Futurity in 1988, 1989 and 1990. He also won the NRHA Open Futurity 1993 on Watch Me Spin, was Hi point Trainer 1990-1995, won the Open at the Nationals at least twice and was part of the team that won the International Nations Cup at St. Paul, Minnesota USA.

 

Rick competed at the highest level of Australian reining until he and his wife Judy established Mavericks Western Wear retail store.
